Last updated: September 24, 2026
As Sacramento State prepares for its first home football game of the season, a heightened focus on campus security is evident. The university is implementing increased safety measures in anticipation of the event, a response to a recent shooting incident that occurred in one of its parking structures. The decision to bolster security underscores a commitment to ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and fans attending the game. These enhanced protocols are designed to address concerns and provide reassurance to the campus community. For individuals planning to attend the game, being aware of increased security presence is a practical first step. Familiarizing yourself with campus access points and any potential new procedures can help streamline your arrival and departure. It's always wise to stay informed about event-specific guidelines released by the university. Beyond the immediate event, this situation serves as a reminder for all of us to be mindful of our surroundings in public spaces. Simple actions like being aware of who is around you, securing your belongings, and knowing emergency contact information can contribute to personal safety.
